What is Intersectionality?
Event on May 18th, 2018 starting at 7 p.m.
At our last event we together decided that this time we will unpack the term and the concept of „intersectionality“.
Very often in feminist and queer circles, we hear Flavia Dzodans words: „MY FEMINISM WILL BE INTERSECTIONAL OR IT WILL BE BULLSHIT!“ – But what does intersectionality actually mean?
In the late 1980s, Kimberlé Crenshaw coined the term intersectionality and the black feminist movement of the 1990s in the US spread the word, but intersectional ideas do indeed go back to the 19th century.
First, we would like to give a short overview of the history and an interpretation of the term. Afterwards, we’d like to work on strategies with you, how our actions can be intersectional and what an intersectional feminism should look like.
At the beginning of the evening, we will quickly present the results from last time when we talked about queer feminist terms and take the chance to possibly add some more terms to the collection.
